Join Our Summer Volunteer Program
Our summer volunteer program is designed to empower individuals aged 16-25 to contribute meaningfully to animal welfare.
Running from May to August, participants commit to 12-15 hours weekly, totaling 150 hours. Volunteers can choose to work with dogs, cats, or wildlife across our locations in South Elgin, Bloomingdale, or Elburn.
This program not only supports the well-being of animals but also fosters personal growth and community engagement. Successful volunteers may earn the prestigious Anderson Humane Volunteer Service Award, recognizing their dedication and hard work.
Program Overview
As a volunteer, you will engage in a variety of fulfilling tasks. You’ll care for and socialize with animals, ensuring they receive the attention and love they need.
Additionally, you’ll participate in adoption events and help to find loving homes for our animals. Through these activities, you’ll gain hands-on experience in animal care and welfare, all while making a positive impact on the community.
How Volunteers Help
Provide Animal Care As Required
Support the daily care and enrichment of animals while ensuring they are comfortable, safe, and well cared for.
Assist with feeding
Help prepare and provide meals for animals in our care, supporting their health and recovery.
Support Shelter Operations
Assist with hands-on tasks that keep our shelter and wildlife facilities running smoothly.
