Please note, we are located in South Elgin, Illinois.

We understand that giving up a pet can be difficult.

As a “no kill,” limited admission humane society, we are committed to zero euthanasia of adoptable animals in our care. Because the number of animals needing our assistance exceeds our adoption rate, we cannot immediately accept every animal that comes to us. The number of new animals we can accept is dictated by available kennel spaces at the shelter. For this reason, we are able to accept incoming animals by appointment only.

I Found a Pet

If you found a lost pet or a stray, please submit this form here: Stray Surrender Form. Please feel free to use our additional lost animal resources at the bottom of this page.

The Second Best Option for Your Pet: Finding Them a New Home

The second best option is to find your pet a home. We encourage you to check out the pet rehoming tools below, which allow you to be involved in the adoption process.

Anderson Humane Home to Home
Anderson Humane can help you find the right home for your pet while keeping them in the comfort of your own home.
If you need to rehome your pet but want to keep them out of the shelter environment, our Home to Home program allows you to list your animal for adoption on our website while keeping them at home by your side. When rehoming your pet, it is important to be thorough and patient; finding the right home takes time. Investing time into the rehoming process increases your chance of successfully placing your pet in a loving home that is not only a great fit, but also a safe place for your pet. Rehoming your pet helps shelters like us save more animals in need.
