Anderson Humane

Veterinarian Full-time
Anderson Humane is a progressive, no-kill animal welfare organization serving over 3,500 animals each year through foster and adoption programs, veterinary care, community programs, and wildlife rescue. Our work focuses on creating and sustaining meaningful relationships between people and animals.

If you’re a veterinarian who wants to practice meaningful, mission-driven medicine without the grind of a traditional private practice, Anderson Humane would love to welcome you to our team.

Anderson Humane is a progressive, non-profit, no-kill animal welfare organization serving more than 3,500 animals annually through adoption, veterinary shelter medicine, community programs, and wildlife assistance. Our medical team is impact-focused, collaborative, and dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care to animals who truly need it. At our clinic, your clients are primarily in-house departmental teams and foster families; partners who work with you, not pet owners expecting transactional service.

At Anderson Humane, you can practice with purpose, stability, and genuine support.

Why You Matter

Our veterinarian shapes the quality of life for every animal who enters our care. You’ll provide compassionate medical and surgical services to animals across our shelter, our network of foster families, and our low-cost community clinic without upselling, revenue quotas, or production pressure. You’ll help guide protocols, collaborate across departments, and play an essential role in shaping future facility planning.

This is ideal for someone who wants autonomy, teamwork, and a healthy work-life balance.

What You’ll Do

Medical & Surgical Care

  • Deliver high-quality diagnostic, medical, and surgical care to dogs, cats, and small mammals.
  • Perform spay/neuter and other routine shelter procedures.
  • Support foster families and departmental teams managing medical cases.
  • Perform limited low-cost clinic procedures (not a general practice workload).
  • Triage and stabilize urgent medical cases.
  • Provide humane, progressive care using Fear Free principles.

Collaboration & Internal Support

  • Serve as the primary medical partner for our animal care, intake, foster, and adoption teams.
  • Mentor veterinary technicians and clinic support staff.
  • Collaborate with leadership on policies and protocols, workflow improvements, and future clinic planning.

  • Maintain high ethical and professional standards.
  • Ensure accurate medical records and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Contribute to a supportive work environment for staff, volunteers, and animals.

Organizational Support

  • Provide input and feedback on program development and operational improvements.
  • Participate in mission-focused meetings, trainings, and organization events.
  • Embrace additional duties that support our organizational mission.

  • Consistent daytime schedule and no evenings.
  • Minimal weekend needs.
  • No sales pressure.
  • Indoor clinic setting with occasional outdoor activity.
  • Handling and interacting with animals of varying temperaments.
  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs with assistance.

What we’re looking for
