- Recruit, train and support volunteers in all Anderson’s programs. This includes Domestic, Wildlife and Administrative opportunities at seven locations with over 200 weekly shifts.
- Coach staff members on how to manage volunteers so that they are appropriately supervised and given recognition.
- Cultivate gratitude and appreciation between volunteers and staff.
- Daily communication with volunteers through email and phone calls to monitor and schedule coverage at all sites.
- Maintain the retention of volunteer information; manages volunteer information securely and with discretion.
- Compile, organize, and present volunteer statistics and data.
- Research, identify, schedule and conduct ongoing community recruitment and outreach. Conduct at least one “active” volunteer recruitment event per month.
- Coordinates and creates monthly volunteer recognition activities
- Performs other duties as assigned by either Volunteer Manager or Volunteer Director
Qualifications/Skills:
- Minimum of one year of experience managing volunteers or serving in a volunteer position
- Experience in animal welfare a plus
- Experience with a volunteer data management system preferred
- Experience with and competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) software programs, and ability to learn new software
- Familiarity with (or able to learn) Google email and Google applications
- A deep appreciation of the importance of respect for all life and a desire to model this behavior when dealing with animals and people.
- Keeps focus during frequent interruptions; swiftly adapts to changes in the environment, protocol, and priorities when necessary.
- Detail-oriented with effective time management skills
- Communicates clearly and concisely in both verbal and written form.
- Strong skills and experience in conflict management
- Works cooperatively as part of the organization on cross-functional programs, projects, and activities.
- Is emotionally mature, morally sound, compassionate, attentive, reliable, and honest with an outgoing, participatory work style.
Compensation:
- $16-$18 an hour

Work Environment:
Shared cubicle/office space. Exposure to animals, high noise levels, potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, animal bites, and scratches. Work may be performed outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
Physical Activities:
Ability to stand, crouch, bend at the waist, kneel, squat, walk, and talk for up to eight hours a day; lift at least fifty pounds with assistance. Work a flexible schedule with regular weekend and evening shifts; weeknight and some holiday shifts will be required.
