The Senior Director of Communications, under the direction of the Chief Engagement Officer, is a strategic thought leader who
assists with planning, implementing, and managing a comprehensive and effective communications program. This position
oversees the implementation of the organization’s overall branding and messaging, both internally and externally. The Senior
Director will use their expertise and experience to reflect Anderson Humane’s brand positively across all types of media. This individual is responsible for initiating, directing, and implementing a comprehensive range of engagement activities that support the mission and work of Anderson Humane. The Senior Director will successfully manage and guide a team of marketing and creative professionals.

Overall Responsibilities (to include, but not limited to)
Assist with the development of annual strategic plans and budgets that align with the organization’s mission and goals
Help develop and implement innovative and engaging communications
Lead and manage the Engagement team’s efforts towards the creation of branding, development, distribution, and
maintenance of all communications
Establish, track, and report on engagement plans and activities; manage budgets and proactively forecast shifts in
expense expectations
Evaluate marketing opportunities, considering organizational goals
Build relationships with community influencers to grow awareness committee membership
Manage team to ensure they deliver all projects on time and on budget
Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher required; minimum of ten-years experience in marketing, communications, and/or
journalism fields
Must have a demonstrated record of strategic planning, team building and management, cross-function collaboration,
innovation, and creativity
Proven track record in delivering communications outcomes with above-average results
Animal welfare experience a plus

Exhibit skills in persuasive communications and outcomes-based messaging
A collaborative style with the ability to work well with several different personality types simultaneously
Demonstrate trustworthiness with internal teams and be able to handle confidential information appropriately
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter
A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible considering changing priorities
A demonstrated ability to manage projects, communications, and priorities in a constantly changing environment
A decision-making approach that evaluates options, resources, and outcomes considering the organizational objectives

The ability to think strategically and have a thorough understanding of marketing and communications principles and
Knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office; email; and Microsoft Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop)

Must have own transportation, valid driver’s license, and insurable driving record

Shared cubicle/office space possible
Exposure to animals
Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, animal bites and scratches
Exposure to high noise levels when in kennels
Work may be performed outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions
Work a flexible schedule with regular weekend and evening shifts

Physical Activities
Drive, stand, bend, squat, walk, and talk for up to eight hours a day
Lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
