Get a refresher on how to teach behaviors such as sit, down, touch, and the name game! Even if your dog has had many years to practice these behaviors, doing them in a different context can help your dog take their training “off-road”! We will practice luring, establishing a hand signal, and how to work up to a verbal cue.
Join us outside at our South Elgin campus for training sessions that focus on proofing basic manners, appropriate play with dogs and toys, enrichment games, and more! Training & Treats are held OUTSIDE and will help your dog work through distance, distraction, and duration to help your dog be able to perform behaviors in various contexts! In addition, you’ll learn how to use the outside space to train, use the environment as enrichment, and other tips and tricks when you and your dog are in a public area.
These are one-off sessions, so you may come to as many sessions as you would like and repeat them! Session topics will repeat every five weeks.
If you are interested in signing up for a class, please call the shelter’s main number at (847) 697-2880 to register or stop by in person! Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
