On March 13, Anderson Humane had the pleasure of welcoming a group of residents from Edgewater Del Webb for a special behind-the-scenes tour of our South Elgin shelter. With nearly 40 guests in attendance, the visit was a wonderful opportunity to share our mission and connect with a passionate, community-minded audience.
The day began with a meet-and-greet featuring Isabel, one of our wildlife ambassador animals, who offered guests an up-close look at our wildlife education efforts. Following this engaging introduction, attendees were guided through the shelter, where they learned more about our adoption, medical, and wildlife rehabilitation programs — and how we support animals and people every day.
This tour was the culmination of an ongoing outreach partnership with Edgewater Del Webb. In December, Anderson Humane staff spoke at their educational club, and in February, we presented to their veterans club, building strong relationships and sharing how community involvement helps drive our mission forward.
The high turnout and enthusiasm from the Edgewater Del Webb community reflects a growing interest in animal welfare and meaningful volunteer engagement — and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support.
