As we celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week, we are proud to spotlight volunteer and foster Christine Vivacqua. For over three years, Christine has been an essential part of the Anderson Humane family, dedicating her time to dog care, fundraising events, Doggy Day Out adventures, and fostering. Her journey was sparked by a simple observation: too many incredible dogs were being overlooked in the shelter environment. Driven to be part of the solution, Christine stepped in as a volunteer foster and quickly found herself “hooked” by the magic of watching an animal’s true personality come alive.
The Power of Showing Up
Christine’s impact is felt most deeply by the dogs who need the most support – the shy ones, the stressed ones, and those who have been waiting the longest for someone to notice them. Whether she is participating in playgroups to help dogs gain confidence or taking a pup like her favorite, Carter, on a Doggy Day Out to give them a much-needed break from the shelter, Christine is consistently there for them. To her, fostering and volunteering mean being the bridge between a dog’s hardest days and their second chance. By providing a safe, calm environment in her home, she allows animals to settle and truly prepare for the life that awaits them.
