When Bunny first arrived at Anderson Humane in September 2022 from Oklahoma, she was an 8-month-old bundle of energy. Bunny needed help with impulse control, leash reactivity, and other behaviors typical of her breed. Rather than see these challenges as obstacles, we saw them as opportunities for growth. Bunny became one of our All-Star pups and started to work closely with her Trainer, Madyson, to master her cues.
Bunny thrived when she was mentally and physically engaged, and her absolute favorite activity was playing with other dogs. It was clear she was a smart, enthusiastic learner, but like all of our All-Stars, she needed some extra time, attention and love to help her navigate through her behavioral challenges.
We never give up on our adoptables, no matter what they’re working on. After months of progress, Bunny was adopted by a wonderful woman who saw her potential and continued to nurture her growth. We know that with the right support, every dog has the ability to achieve great things. Bunny’s story is the perfect example of that.
And better yet, her new mom didn’t stop there—she enrolled Bunny in additional Anderson Humane training classes and kept up with the routine provided by our trainers. Then, the unbelievable happened. Just this past week, Bunny passed her Canine Good Citizen Test with Anderson Humane! For a dog who once struggled with leash reactivity and impulse control, this milestone is a testament to her resilience, her hard work, and the unwavering support from everyone who believed in her.
Bunny’s story shows us that even if a dog comes into our care while navigating behavioral challenges, the sky is truly the limit for them. With patience, training, and the right match in a loving home, any dog can rise to meet their full potential.
We’re incredibly proud of Bunny and her journey. We cannot wait to continue our mission of helping dogs like her find the love and support they need to succeed.
