Rescuing the Beagles
We participated in national efforts to rescue 4,000 beagles from Envigo in Virginia.
166 Beagles Saved
Anderson Humane is proud to have been part of the national effort to rescue and rehome 4,000 beagles from Envigo, a breeding and research facility in Virginia. Envigo was found guilty of dozens of federal regulation violations, resulting in dogs being ill, injured, underfed, and, in the worst cases, dead.
In August, Anderson Humane received 91 of these beagles, and all of them have been adopted into loving homes. The outpouring of support for those dogs inspired us to receive another 75 Envigo beagles in early September. Once again, we were amazed by the number of people in our community who expressed interest in fostering and/or adopting these dogs.
This second group of beagles is in the process of receiving the medical care necessary to become eligible for adoption. Those fostering the beagles will receive the first opportunity to adopt, but the dogs who become available for others to adopt will be listed on our adoptables page.
In the meantime, learn how some of the first beagles to be adopted are adjusting to life in a family. We are grateful to everyone who has opened their hearts and homes for these dogs who have been through way too much. Thanks to your compassion and generosity, we are bringing people and animals together for good.
