A Difficult Beginning
Terri, a three-month-old Black Labrador Retriever, arrived at Anderson Humane on May 30, 2026, through a Sommer’s transport from Oklahoma. While she was full of puppy curiosity, it was immediately clear that something wasn’t right. An abnormality in her front right paw made every step painful, and our medical team quickly began evaluating the best path forward.
After careful consideration, the decision was made to amputate her front right leg, allowing Terri to live a comfortable, pain-free life.
Learning to Thrive
Dogs have an incredible ability to adapt, and Terri proved that every single day. With the support of our veterinary team, staff, volunteers, and everyone who helped care for her throughout her recovery, she quickly learned that life on three legs could still be filled with play, exploration, and joy.
Her determination never slowed her down. As she healed, Terri’s playful personality began to shine, reminding everyone around her that resilience often comes with a wagging tail.
A Community That Makes Healing Possible
Terri’s story is possible because of an entire community that believes every animal deserves a chance to thrive. From the transport partners who helped bring her to Anderson Humane, to the veterinary professionals who provided lifesaving care, to the volunteers, donors, and adopters who make this work possible, every person played a role in her journey.
On June 28, 2026, less than a month after arriving at Anderson Humane, Terri found her loving home, where she continues to embrace life with confidence and joy.
