Story #28: The Road Home That Changed Everything
As told by Kelly Kane, Brilliance Subaru Team Member and Corporate Partner
Where It All Began
Some moments quietly change everything. You do not realize it at first, only later, when you look back and see how much you have grown from that single starting point.
For Brilliance Subaru, that moment came with the first Road Home Mega Adoption Event. What began as a hopeful idea quickly became something deeply personal. Over two days, our showroom and dog park filled with wagging tails, nervous first meetings, happy tears, and families discovering the companions who would soon become part of their everyday lives.
By the end of the weekend, more than 160 animals had found loving homes. Each adoption carried its own story, but together they created something powerful. It felt like watching a community come alive around a shared purpose.
That weekend was not just about what happened in our building.
It was about the work that led up to it and the trust that formed along the way.
Through our partnership with Anderson Humane, we joined transport trips to Oklahoma, helping move dogs from overcrowded shelters to places where they could finally be seen and welcomed. Standing there, meeting the dogs, and understanding the reality they came from made everything feel real in a new way. This was not abstract. These were lives waiting for someone to show up.
Each trip deepened our connection to the mission and to the people who dedicate their lives to it.
The impact of that first Road Home was so meaningful that it became the subject of a documentary.
The film captured what many people never get to see. The long days, the emotional moments, the teamwork, and the quiet victories that happen behind the scenes.
Watching that story unfold reminded us that rescue is built on persistence, compassion, and belief in what is possible when people work together.
A Culture That Endures
Looking back now, that first Road Home was not just an event.
It was the beginning of something that continues to shape who we are.
Today, it lives on through every Rescue Dog of the Day, every transport, every Road Home Adoption event in June and October, and every milestone reached. It became woven into Brilliance Subaru’s culture and changed how we think about giving back. It showed us how deeply animals impact our lives and how important it is to stand up for those who depend on us.
Our partnership with Anderson Humane has led to countless life-changing moments. These are the stories that stay with you. The ones that remind you why you started and why you keep going.
Together, we are proud to continue creating second chances, one adoption at a time.
