Story #50: The Day Pumpkin Came Home

As told by Jamie Scoville, Adopter and Volunteer

The moment I saw Pumpkin, I fell in love.

There was just something about him that stood out in a way I cannot fully explain. Out of all the animals I looked at, my eyes kept going back to him. It felt instinctive, like my heart had already decided before my mind caught up.

When I finally met him, everything I felt from his photo made sense.

His personality was so fun and so sweet, and he had this light, joyful energy that made being around him easy. He was curious, affectionate, and full of life.

In that moment, I knew he was meant to be part of my family.

The team at Anderson Humane made the experience even more meaningful.

They were so kind and supportive throughout the adoption process. They took the time to answer my questions, talk through his personality, and make sure it was a good fit for both of us. I felt encouraged and supported every step of the way, which made bringing him home even more special.

Bringing Pumpkin home was incredibly emotional for me.

From the very beginning, he settled in so naturally, and it felt like he had always belonged there. Watching him explore his new space, meet my other animals, and slowly find his confidence was something I will never forget.

One of my biggest hopes was that he would get along with my other animals, and he truly exceeded every expectation. He bonded with them so beautifully. Seeing him build those relationships and become part of our little pack showed me how powerful a second chance can be.

Over time, his joyful personality really began to shine.

He brings so much happiness into our home every single day. Whether he is playing, cuddling, or just being his sweet self, he fills our space with warmth, and my entire family adores him. He has a way of making everyone feel connected and happy just by being there.

Adopting Pumpkin changed my life and my family’s life in ways I never anticipated.

It reminded me how meaningful it is to open your home and your heart to an animal. Watching him grow, thrive, and fit so perfectly into our family has been unforgettable.

I am sharing my story because adoption truly matters, and Pumpkin completely changed my life.

I hope our experience encourages someone else to adopt and discover their future best friend.
